Demand fair, sustainable workers’ compensation

petition now CLOSED

Thank you to the 1,000+ businesses who signed in support of urgent reform.

We’ll collate these and send them to your State Member of Parliament.

Why we need your voice

The NSW workers’ compensation scheme is broken, with a $3.6 billion deficit and losing $5 million every day. Since 2021–22, psychological injury claims have surged by 65%, yet too many stem from workplace disputes rather than genuine injuries.

What’s at stake

  • Rising premiums: Premiums are rising sharply, squeezing employers and threatening jobs.
  • Questionable claims: Claims that aren't genuine divert resources from workers who really need it.
  • Higher costs: Every claim drives premiums up, increasing costs for everyone.
  • System flaws: The current system encourages disputes, instead of focusing on helping injured workers back to work.

The solution

We back fair compensation and proper care for injured workers – but only if the system is focused on genuine injury claims.

That means:

  1. Tightening eligibility to stop misuse of psychological injury provisions.
  2. Speeding up assessments so genuine claimants get the support they need.
  3. Aligning with best-practice tests (“would a reasonable person consider this a reasonable action?”) rather than purely perception-based claims.

Lisa Smith from Biala Support Services has seen her workers’ comp premium rise by $180,000 in the past year. She’s already signed our petition calling for change. Watch her video and add your voice by signing too.
