Meet the riverina murray team

Serena advocates for, educates, informs and connects business. Serena’s 18 months at Business NSW is preceded by 2 years experience servicing the business community of Wagga Wagga as the General Manager of the Wagga Wagga Business Chamber and taking out the Regional Award for Outstanding Business Chamber.

Prior to her career in advocating for the interest of business, Serena had a successful 14 year career in Local Government in various roles but most notable as the Corporate Strategy Coordinator for Wagga Wagga City Council where she received numerous accolades for her role at an organisational and industry level with highlights including:

  • Nomination and announcement as finalist for Young Achiever of the Year in the Ministers Women in Local Government awards
  • Winner of the Local Government RH Dougherty Awards for Excellence in Communication

Her studies include Business Management, Communication (Public Relations) and IAP2 industry Certification. Born and raised in the region, Serena is passionate about business and the economic growth of our region.

Shanna brings a deep passion for regional business, a strong track record in business development, and a genuine commitment to the growth and prosperity of the Riverina Murray region. With a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Management and qualifications in Strategic Business Planning, Shanna combines formal business training with hands-on experience across local government, private enterprise, and regional advocacy.

Owning and operating her own family electrical business, has given her firsthand insight into the challenges and triumphs of running a business in a regional community. This, along with a background in local government and the arts, has shaped her ability to drive meaningful outcomes and long-term impact across diverse industries.

Shanna is known for her ability to connect people, spark collaboration, and foster partnerships that deliver real value and thrives on identifying opportunities, developing strategic initiatives, and advocating for regional businesses to help them grow and succeed.

Maddy is a dedicated event and venue manager, with a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and satisfaction, innovation, and optimisation. As an experienced coordinator and regional advocate, preceding her 18 months with Business NSW, Maddy has worked for organisations such as the Albury Entertainment Centre as well as in the healthcare not-for-profit space.

Maddy is in her final semester of her Master of Business Administration at Charles Sturt University, with prior postgraduate business qualifications and a Bachelor of Psychological Science from La Trobe University where she was also part of the Excellence Academy. Maddy is committed to exploring how strategic planning and business analytics can empower organisational success and inform the best experience for clients and stakeholders.
