For more than 90 years, Canowindra Produce has been part of the story of regional New South Wales. Established by the Brown family in the early 1930s, the business began by cutting chaff on local farms and has grown alongside the region's agricultural industry ever since.

Four generations of the Brown family have now worked in the business. Over that time, farming has changed dramatically, but Canowindra Produce has remained based in Canowindra and closely connected to the local producers it supports.

Today, the business supplies hay, grain, fertiliser and agronomy services, while also providing grain storage and export opportunities for local growers. Working with farmers throughout the season remains a central part of what they do.

As Mark Brown reflects, "The biggest thing that has changed in our industry is technological advances. Trucks are bigger, machinery is better, it's made everything a lot easier."

Canowindra Produce has been a member of Business NSW since 1979. For Mark, that long association comes down to something simple:

"I think being a member of the business chamber gives you a little bit of peace of mind. Knowing that they're there if you're in trouble is a relief because you don't know what your troubles can be. They might be financial or legal, but you can just ring the business chamber and they'll get you sorted. And at a time when you need help, you want it quickly. These guys can do it for you easily and without fuss."

As Business NSW marks 200 years, Canowindra Produce's story is one of longevity, local knowledge and a family business that has grown with its community across four generations.
