Business NSW says the NSW Government’s draft Design and Place SEPP gives the community the opportunity to support innovative design in planning decisions.

"It’s our view that the new Design and Place SEPP puts social, economic, cultural and environmental outcomes at the centre of its strategy," said Business NSW Executive Director of Policy and Advocacy David Harding.

"The exhibition process needs to be supported with careful reviews and valuable input, with a view to realising an easier and more cost-effective planning process across NSW for our businesses," Mr Harding said.

"It has gone beyond time for the planning process to meet the needs of a changing cultural, economic and environmental world, and makes the system clearer, more predictable and decision-making quicker.

"Businesses have always told us that a fast 'no' is much better than a slow 'yes' because it gives them the certainty they crave.

"As business looks to rebuild and thrive in a post pandemic market, Business NSW looks forward to playing a key role in representing the views of members during the exhibition process," Mr Harding said.
