Why am I receiving this email about NSW Business Chamber Ltd’s annual general meeting?
If you have received an email about the annual general meeting (AGM) it is because your business is a member of NSW Business Chamber Ltd (Company), which trades under various names, including Business NSW, My Business, Business Sydney, Business Western Sydney and Business Illawarra.
You may have agreed to become a member when (by way of example):
- you purchased a membership package with us;
- you wanted to access certain ‘gated’ information or content on one of our websites (eg businessnsw.com); or
- you became a member of a local chamber of commerce in New South Wales. We have reciprocal membership arrangements with approximately 200 local chambers of commerce in New South Wales (Participating LCCs). These reciprocal membership arrangements are offered to members of Participating LCCs when they join their relevant Participating LCC.
We are legally required to notify all members about the AGM. Provision of the notice of meeting is a corporate communication required under the Company’s constitution. As such, it is not possible to opt-out of such communication. Such a communication will only cease when you cease to be a member of the Company.
I have previously unsubscribed from receiving all emails from NSW Business Chamber Ltd. Why did I receive an email about NSW Business Chamber Ltd’s annual general meeting?
You have received this email as the representative of a member of NSW Business Chamber Ltd.
A member cannot unsubscribe from a corporate communication. If you have previously unsubscribed, you will have opted out of all marketing communications.
You cannot opt-out of receiving communications we are legally required to send to you (eg giving you notice of the annual general meeting). Such communications will only cease upon the cessation of membership of the company.
Can I unsubscribe from emails about the annual general meeting?
Communications about the annual general meeting are corporate communications. You cannot unsubscribe from these. We are legally required to give you (as the member representative) notice of the annual general meeting. Such communications will only cease upon the cessation of membership of the company.
How many of these annual general meeting emails am I going to receive?
Annual general meetings occur once a year. However, the company may call a general meeting of members at any time, in which case notice of the general meeting would need to be given to members.
If the annual general meeting is of no interest, simply ignore and/or delete the email. No response or action is required from a member who does not want to attend.
If you have registered to attend the annual general meeting online, you will receive a prompt confirmation email and two subsequent courtesy emails: 24 hours and one hour prior to the event.
If you clicked on the registration link but did not complete your registration, you will be sent only one courtesy reminder to complete your registration.

What happens at an annual general meeting? Why would I want to go?
Annual general meetings exist for the benefit of members. They provide an opportunity for members to hear from, and pose questions to, the directors and executive management about the activities and financial performance of the organisation during the last financial year.

Are only members with voting rights allowed to attend the annual general meeting?
No, all members are entitled to attend, but only members with voting rights can vote on a motion or resolution put to the meeting.
Note: there are no resolutions or motions for the 2024 annual general meeting.
How do I know if I have voting rights?
A member will have voting rights if they are a member of a membership class that carries voting rights or the member has purchased Member+.
The membership terms and conditions available on the company’s website outline which membership classes have voting rights.
