Rules & Guidelines

Before proceeding with your nomination, please familarise yourself with the following important information:

How to nominate

Step 1: Register your business or product and enter your nomination

You are encouraged to enter the category that best reflects your core business

Visit the Quality Tourism Australia website, create an account/login then go to the Australian Tourism Awards portal to register your nomination. If you have any issues with your registration please contact the NSW Tourism Awards team or call 13 26 96. For detailed instructions download the guide: How to nominate via the awards portal

Entry fee is $150 per category entered. 

You will be required to select your region based on the NSW Destination Networks, if unsure of your network area click here to view the network map. 

Important note: please be sure to click through to the Australian Tourism Awards - you can complete the business standards questions (QTF level 1 & accommodation standards) within the awards portal. 

Step 2: Prepare your Submission

Review all the entrant resources available  to assist you to prepare and write your submission. Be sure to follow the response guidance tips included within the category questions - this is what the judges will be looking for.  

Entrants are strongly encouraged to prepare a draft in a word document before submitting online. 

Step 3: Register for a draft submission review  

All entrants are encouraged to register to have their draft submission reviewed. This is a free service offered to all entrants.

You must register to particpate, contact admin@nswtourismawards.com.au

Step 4: Submit your entry  

Log in to the Awards portal using the log in details you created when nominating, complete your answers and hit submit once you reach the end. Please note entries can only be submitted once.

Step 5: Celebrate

Come along to the 2021 NSW Tourism Awards Presentation and Gala Celebration on 3 February 2022  (new date) for the announcement of all winners. The Gala event is a great opportunity to celebrate your accomplishment and build your connections.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Entry into the 2021 NSW Tourism Awards is subject to the following terms and conditions. By ticking the terms and conditions box on the Awards portal the person submitting nomination details, hereby after referred to as the entrant, agrees to the following: 

  • The entrant agrees to complete nomination details and paying their relevant entry fee by 5pm, Friday 9 July 2021 (extended)  
    • Entry fees received after this date will incur a $150 increase on the total entry fee.
  • The entrant may withdraw their nomination by notifying the NSW Tourism Awards Program Manager via email to admin@nswtourismawards.com before 5pm, Wednesday 4th August 2021 and receive a refund of their paid entry fee, less a $50 administration fee.
  • The entrant will forfeit their entry fee in full if they do not advise of their withdrawal from the awards via email before 5pm, Wednesday 4th August 2021.
  • The entrant agrees to complete their submission in accordance with the Rules of Entry and submit via the Awards portal by 5pm, Wednesday 8th September 2021
    • Submissions received after this date will not be considered for judging.

Our Assurance
All information submitted is strictly confidential. All persons, for example Tourism Awards Coodinators and judges, who may come into contact with your submission, are each required to sign a confidentiality agreement and at no time will your submission be downloaded.

DISCLAIMER 
In no event will the judges be held responsible for any comment, viewpoint, or expression whether expressed or implied, concerning the standard or quality of an entrant’s submission. Entrants agree not to bring any claim against any of the judges, award co-ordinators, NSW Tourism Industry Council/ Business NSW or Award sponsors. Entrants agree that the judges’ decisions are final and that no correspondence will be entered concerning such decisions. All times stated are in AEST.

Judging

The appointment of judges is designed to be completely transparent and all judges must meet strict criteria as well as be representative of the tourism industry. Elected judges must possess a strong knowledge of the operations of the industry and will be, or have been, involved in tourism or a similar service at a senior management level.

Meet the 2021 NSW Tourism Awards Judging Committee

Each submission is assessed by a team of three judges who firstly judge independently, and then discuss their findings as a group. All judges provide their time and expertise on a voluntary basis and are educated in the entire judging process including submission assessments, scoring guidelines, undertaking site inspections and providing quality constructive feedback to entrants.

The judging process is overseen by professional auditors whose role is to audit submissions for compliance, audit score sheets and check conflicts of interest and confidentiality declarations.

Judging takes place from July to September. Business verification meetings commence in July.  

The NSW Tourism Awards judging is coordinated by the Tourism Industry Council powered by Business NSW. Please contact the NSW Tourism Awards if you would like to be considered for the judging panel in 2022.
