The Mid North Coast NSW Business Awards recognises growth, entrepreneurship and celebrates business success.  From Woolgoolga in the North to Forster Tuncurry in the South, Mid North Coast is one of the most stunning environments in NSW.  As well as many diverse industries, the area is also known as a tourism mecca.

The Outstanding Employee Award recognises an inspirational employee who has demonstrated a passion for their role and a commitment to their workplace and community.

2021 Winner

Darren Long, Key Employment

Key Employment is an NDIS & Disability Employment Service specialising in employment and support services for people with disability. 

Darren is responsible for the maintenance; security, appearance, safety and effective use of the grounds and buildings on thier 5 hectare site in Coffs Harbour. He designed and built our Mini City Farm open to local school students and people of disadvantage to explore and volunteer in a beautiful space. He controls the conversion of the old Catholic Club to a modern and accessible Community Centre. Liaising with architects, Council planners, Contractors and community to design and then implement the actions required to complete the project.

The Outstanding Young Business Leader award recognises an inspirational business leader aged 35 or under who demonstrates outstanding entrepreneurial spirit, strategic business direction and innovative ideas.

Guy Terkelsen, Hastings Physio and Health

Hastings Physio and Health provide the local community with a premium health hub offering a wide range of services including physiotherapy, excerise physiology, massage, occupational therapy and Women's health.

Gowing up playing representative sport meant that Guy developed a strong relationship with his local physiotherapist. It was this relationship that motivated him to become a physiotherapist. His passion for physiotherapy and mentorship lead him to owning his own practice in 2016. Now Guy employs 26 staff across two locations, treating more than 100 paitents a week.

The Outstanding Business Leader award recognises an inspirational business leader aged 36 or over who demonstrates outstanding entrepreneurial spirit, strategic business direction and innovative ideas, whilst providing leadership to the new generation.

Donna Carrier, Bent on Food/Bent on Life

Donna Carrier is a hospitality and tourism leader with a passion for agritourism and a dedication to community. Donna is founder and operator of the multi award winning Bent on Food, a successful regional café and catering company based in Wingham. Also the proprietor of Bent on Life, a homewares store promoting sustainable goods and helping customers to upcycle furniture that would have ended in landfill.

Donna is passionate about changing the way the hospitality and tourism industry is viewed, and would like to see this industry recognised as a career rather than just a job that fills the gaps.

TacMed Australia

TacMed Australia is an Australian Veteran Owned Business that specialises in bridging the gap between battlefield medicine and traditional first aid. More than 60 per cent of their workforce are Veterans. Since its start-up in 2010 TacMed Australia has increasingly positioned itself as a market leader in the provision of bespoke emergency medical and first aid training, equipment and consultancy. TacMed Australia provides medical solutions for a range of industries and government organisations with high-risk workplaces such as first responders and remote workers.

The Excellence in Sustainability Award recognises a business that has demonstrated its commitment to sustainable business practices and is working to reduce the impact of its operations on the environment.

Costa Exchange

The Costa Berry farm at Range Road, Corindi is at the forefront of genetic and growing innovation for berries. They are the only Australian berry grower to achieve year-round production of blueberries and raspberries and their Corindi farm covers 340 planted hectares. As one of the region’s major employers they recognise their presence is integral to the economic and social sustainability of our region and play an active role in supporting the community and local businesses.

The Outstanding Community Organisation Award recognises an organisation that works to improve the social, cultural or environmental wellbeing of the community.

The Community Transport Company

The Community Transport Company is a not-for-profit social enterprise which has been serving the local population for over 30 years. It provides affordable and accessible transport to people who are frail, aged, have a disability or are otherwise transport disadvantaged. It relies on highly-trained volunteers who give over 25,000 hours per year and drive over one million kilometres to assist others in our community. It provides over 90,000 trips per year with a fleet of 40 vehicles.

The Outstanding Local Chamber Award recognises the achievements of a Local Chamber of Commerce in supporting its members to maximise their business potential through advocacy, education and promotion.

Furhill Pet Boarding is a family owned and run business located in East Kempsey. They aim to provide a personalised, caring boarding experience for their visitors as well as peace of mind for owners that their pets are being looked after by experienced animals lovers in a high quality, safe, and comfortable environment.
