All this peace prepares you for conscious living energy of Tyalgum

Curving through the undulating landscape of the Tweed Valley, alongside the clear waters of the Oxley River, are ever-changing views of Wollumbin Mount Warning as you round its many sides. All this peace prepares you well for the conscious living energy of Tyalgum, boasting so many local enterprises and experiences it will take some time to explore all that awaits on the main stretch of Coolman Street, just a 4 minute end-to-end stroll.

Browse the Marketta Lane art and retail precinct, taking in a myriad bounty, from colourfully stocked gift and vintage stores, packed book shelves and jewellery handmade from fossicked stones to earth conscious shops, beautiful clothing boutiques and good-looking garden wear.

If all this browsing and buying leaves you hungry, head to Flutterbies - famous for its award-winning high teas - serving morning teas and sumptuous meals in an elegant heritage building or under dappled light in the gardens; or pop in to the Tyalgum General Store, packed with locally made artisan foods and fresh-picked produce. In town, you’ll also happen upon a gin bar, coffee roaster, bakery, beer brews and Friday night artisan pizzas, served with a side of live local music. Nearby, there's authentic gelato too, made by an Italian who now calls Tyalgum home.

The Tyalgum Village Markets are a magnet for locals and visitors alike, with rows of stalls selling handmade wares in a green garden setting and sprawling throughout the town. It's all about shopping local to support small business, with vendors ranging from fine artists and craftspeople to artisan small-batch food and drinks crafters, fresh local produce and garden plants and eco-lifestyle products. An added bonus for families is the much-loved children's storytelling time.

Visitors can also tour the remarkable Garden of Light, a vast 25 acre garden grown from the ground up over 18 years by Tyalgum locals, comprising a Cottage Garden, Tuscan Garden and Monet inspired gardens, along with vegetable, fruit and herb gardens.

There’s more too — events right throughout the year, curated by the vibrant and innovative Tyalgum community, celebrating creativity, food, wellness, music, dance, sustainable living, theatre and more. The Tyalgum Music Festival, celebrating 30 years in 2021, showcases 34 musicians performing in 8 concerts over 3 days from vocal ensemble, violin and piano, to cabaret and large scale chamber works. The annual Tour de Tweed road race event also brings Tyalgum to life with cyclists from all over Australia enjoying the country ambience and hospitality.
