Exceptional heritage with modern innovative twists awaits in Pokolbin, a gorgeous town in the heart of the beautiful Hunter Valley.

Nestled at the foot of the Brokenback Mountain range, with a history dating back to the early 1800s when the first grapes were planted, the Pokolbin area of the Hunter Valley is the oldest continuous wine region in Australia.

You will find some of Australia’s most well-known labels here including Tyrrell’s, Mount Pleasant Wines and McGuigan producing award-winning examples of the acclaimed Hunter Valley wines styles of Shiraz, Semillon, Verdelho and Chardonnay. Visit the cellar doors yourself or join one of many guided tours. Explore the country roads and beautiful scenery by bike, horse carriage, segway; in a group or on a personalised tour.

Hatted restaurants sit alongside cafes and casual fare to create a true foodie destination, committed to showcasing the produce of the region.  Every June, celebrate the finer things at the annual Hunter Valley Wine and Food Festival. Curl up beside an open fire, warm yourself amongst outdoor firepits, enjoy hearty reds, and lazy lunches that roll into dinner, celebrated under the crisp winter open skies.

Pokolbin is the centre of concert activity, outside Sydney, and knows how to have a good time, whatever the season. From concerts, markets and intimate dinners to festival celebrations and exciting children’s entertainment, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
