Pulling in at Jugiong it‘s hard to miss the activity and atmosphere.

With people spilling onto the footpath for alfresco dining, the aroma of coffee and the sheer number of cars coming and going you could be forgiven for thinking that this tiny rural hamlet is the centre of the world. Jugiong has many facets to entice the traveller as a dynamic, growing tourism mecca just off the Hume Highway on the mighty Murrumbidgee River in the Southern Tablelands of NSW, a short drive from Canberra.

Set amid picturesque landscapes it is brimming with outstanding café culture, first class food, wine, art and high-end retail experiences. It is renowned as a busy place of meetings and conviviality, whether for coffee or dining, parties, events, festivals or shopping.Clustered all within ten minutes are seven boutique destinations: Curators Collective, Gino’s Fruit & Veg, Jugiong Wine Cellar, Long Track Pantry, Quirky Crow, The Potting Shed at The Sir George Hotel, The Tasting Room 4 Doors Up and Woodstock Resources, so much choice.

Today Jugiong is a major meeting place where people gather from all points of the compass to celebrate life's milestones.

Every two years there’s a quality writers festival and an event marking the courage of policeman Sgt Parry, shot by Johnny Gilbert of the Ben Hall Gang while protecting a gold shipment.Large open spaces and recreation grounds where the kids can play all day are also big drawcards for polocrosse, camp drafting, tennis, skateboarding, swimming and barbeques.

Jugiong’s evolution as a tourism destination has been relatively swift in recent times, though the natural features of river and location were always an attraction for people, even since the days when Aboriginal people came for meetings and ceremonies. With such a winning combination it’s a place that beckons the traveller to revisit time and
