With the tranquil St Georges Basin on one side and the sparkling Pacific Ocean on the other, Sussex Inlet is a water baby’s paradise for the entire family to enjoy. Unlike any other waterways in Australia, Sussex Inlet is built around a system of tidal canals with a beach, lake and inlet offering easy access for fishing, boating, surfing, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding. It’s a one-stop-shop for all types of water-based fun.

Its Danish roots have even inspired an annual Viking Festival on the June long weekend each year, gathering people from around Australia to experience celebrations of the Scandinavian heritage. Want to throw in a line? The friendly locals from Sussex Inlet Tackle Shop will talk you through the tides, and the best places to fish and even provide you with the bait to match.

For family fun on the water, hiring stand up paddleboards from Sussex Inlet SUP is a must. Passionate owner-operator Madeline Rayner will guide you on your adventure and there’s even a giant SUP for the whole family to jump on board and laugh at each other’s safe stacks in the water.

From Mermaid Pools that are carved out by the sea providing clear swimming holes, to the resident kangaroos showing off for the kids at the beach entrances, and the fresh fish and chips from Pelican Shores Café that is delivered to the wharf for your convenience.
