What's new in 2022!

The Australian Tourism Awards and NSW Tourism Awards have always been about celebrating the hard work, resilience and dedication made to create quality tourism experiences.

2021 saw many challenges faced by business, with some similar, and some different across the states/territories and sectors.

This year’s awards program will see us continue to celebrate excellence, to reward business innovation and exceptional customer service, as well as championing the resilience of our industry.

A consumer element will apply to the judging process and we are pleased to announce that the 2022 program will continue to incorporate a more encompassing scoring system where various elements, including consumer reviews and online review, will contribute to the overall result.

Qualifying Period

The qualifying period for the 2022 NSW Tourism Awards returns to be one year only, i.e 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022.

RESPONSIBLE TOURISM QUESTIONS RETURN

A section on Responsible Tourism will be included in the 2022 NSW Tourism Awards submission. This section will include questions such as:

  • How have you considered and progressed your environmental responsibilities during the qualifying period?  This question requires you to outline how you have considered and acted on reducing or improving (whichever applied) your overall impact on the environment.
  • How have you considered and progressed your social and economic responsibilities during the qualifying period?  This question requires you to outline how you have considered and acted on supporting the local community and businesses.
  • How have you considered and progressed your ethical responsibilities during the qualifying period? This question requires you to outline how you have considered and acted on your business ethical responsibilities.

Refer to the criteria and questions of individual categories for specific questions.

WORD COUNT

Having reinstated the Responsible Tourism questions, the word count for most categories will be 10,000 words. Refer to the criteria and questions of individual categories for further details.

Scoring

Each submission will be scored on the following elements

  1. Written submission
  2. Online review
  3. Consumer ratings do not apply to some categories, see Rules of Entry for more information

The business verification meeting is NOT scored in NSW.
