Letter from the President

1 November 2021

Dear Member,

I am pleased to invite you to the annual general meeting (AGM) of NSW Business Chamber Ltd (Company) to be held at 12pm (AEDT) on 26 November 2021.

Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the AGM will be held virtually to ensure the safety of the Company’s members and staff and the broader community.  Please read the attached Notice of Meeting's explanatory notes in relation to registering for, and accessing, the AGM online.

The Company’s activities during the 2021 financial year have demonstrated, once again, why our organisation is a trusted partner to business. I am filled with pride when I reflect on the variety of support the organisation has provided to businesses across the nation during FY21, including:

  • helping businesses deal with the many challenges that the COVID-19 crisis has produced. This has ranged from providing information and advice in relation to government support packages through to helping employers navigate complex public health orders, return to office strategies, WHS and many other issues;
  • working with Federal and State governments to re-open the economy and provide appropriate support to business during the pandemic;
  • providing agency nurses to support the Commonwealth Government’s  COVID-19 vaccination program in the aged care and defence sectors; and
  • supporting employers to take on apprentices and trainees, which is so critical to helping reduce the skills shortages felt across the company.

The Company’s investment in its digital strategy and ICT infrastructure is already paying dividends. The Company now has close to 70,000 members, which underscores our reach as well as the value business places on the information and support we provide to them.

The AGM is an important annual event because it offers the opportunity for you to ask the Board and management about the activities, strategy and financial performance of the Company.

Written questions from members in advance of the AGM are welcomed and should be received by 5pm AEDT, Thursday, 18 November 2021.  As Chair of the meeting, I will seek to address as many of the questions as possible during the meeting.  Members who wish to submit questions should do so by emailing: company.secretary@businessaustralia.com

On behalf of the Board, I wish to thank you for your ongoing support of the Company and hope that you can join us at the AGM.

Yours faithfully

Lyall Gorman
President, NSW Business Chamber Ltd.
